Registered counsellor :

Registration Criteria

1. Counselling practitioner with degree or above (or overseas equivalent) in counselling or counselling related areas;

2. AND have practised at least 250 hours of individual counselling OR have practiced at least 400 hours of face to face group counselling with regular clinical supervision at the time of registration. 

3. Applicants are required to provide supporting documents related to the above criteria.

Renewal Criteria

1. Have received at least 30 hours of training in counselling areas, including workshops, seminars, conferences, etc., at recognized training institutes/centres within the past year.

2. AND have practiced individual face to face counselling hours with regular clinical supervision within the past year.

Initial Registration Fee

HK$800.-, including the annual membership fee (membership year valids from 1 January to 31 December)

Renewal Fee

HK$280.- for renewal payment received on or before 30 June of the current year.

HK$450.- for renewal payment received between 1 July and 30 September of the current year.

HK$600.- for renewal payment received between 1 October and 31 December of the current year.

Registered School Counsellor:

For registered school counsellor:

1.  Hold an honours degree or more advanced degree in Counselling or its equivalence acceptable to the Division⁺, AND

2.   At least 250 hours of individual face to face counselling with regular clinical supervision at the time of registration OR have practiced at least 400 hours of face to face group^# AND

3.  To provide at least 1200 hours school counselling services in particular school settings^*
 

+Require advanced-degree courses that include 4 out of the 6 following fundamental areas:

Career development, Child Counselling OR Adolescent Counselling, School Counselling, Motivation in learning,

Cultural diversity in Counselling, or Counselling students with special educational needs. All equivalent will be assessed on a case by case basis

#The regular supervision must be received from a Counselling Trained Clinical Supervisor. Applicant is required to fill out form and have your supervisor sign and date

*The whole-day-school registered in Education Bureau, e.g. kindergarten, primary/secondary school, special school, tertiary education. Besides these, the registration board of division of school counselling will assess on a case by case basis.

For registered school counsellor (Grandfather’s Clause):

1. Applicants who had at least Two-years of school counseling or above related experience* before January 1, 2023 may be admitted even they have not fulfill the membership criteria of the Division#.
2. All Grandfather Applications will be closed after December 31,2022
    

* The whole-day-school registered in Education Bureau, e.g. kindergarten, primary/secondary school, special school, tertiary education. Besides these, the registration board of division of school counselling will assess on a case by case basis.

# For quality assurance, all Grandfather who were admitted should fulfill the supplementary courses which provided by Division before the next renewal year (more details will be given soon)
